CVPA Victory Fund investing more than $1.5 million to elect pro-environment PA legislators

Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania Victory Fund has launched a massive effort to elect pro-environment legislators in both houses of the state legislature, investing more than $1.5 million in key races across both chambers.

CVPA VF is focused on flipping key seats in both the House and state Senate and  defending vulnerable incumbents in the state House of Representatives, where pro-environment legislators hold the narrowest of margins.

Of particular focus, the organization began knocking doors this week in House District 144, to protect incumbent Rep. Brian Munroe (D-Bucks), as well as in House District 142, to elect Anna Payne, a Democratic pro-environment challenger seeking a Bucks County seat.

In the coming weeks, CVPA Victory Fund will start knocking doors in support of Elizabeth Moro, a Democrat seeking to flip House District 160, which straddles Delaware and Chester counties, as well as on behalf of challenger Anna Thomas in House District 137, which includes portions of Northampton County.

“Over the past two years, we have seen what a slim pro-environment majority was able to do in the state House of Representatives, by delivering landmark Solar for Schools legislation and increasing funding for key conservation programs that protect open space and reduce climate pollution,” said Molly Parzen, Executive Director of Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania, the group’s policy and advocacy arm. “This election, we want to grow that majority so that we can make it easier to deliver on an agenda that puts Pennsylvania at the forefront of a clean energy revolution and protects our environment for future generations.”

If fully funded, CVPA Victory Fund will knock on more than 197,000 doors in the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia suburbs, key regions that will determine control of the state House.

The group will also be able to layer on more than $500,000 in digital ads to support these candidates as well as others running in key districts across the commonwealth, including: challenger Hadley Haas in House District 44, which covers portions of Allegheny County; Nicole Ruscitto in Senate District 37, a suburban Allegheny County district; Eleanor Breslin, who is running in House District 143 in Bucks County; and state Rep. Patty Kim, who is running for the Dauphin County-based Senate District 15.

“With a little bit more than 50 days left to go, it’s essential that we fully fund our election plan to ensure that pro-environment candidates in key races across our commonwealth have the resources they need to compete effectively,” Parzen said. “Let’s seize this historic moment in our commonwealth’s history and build on the progress we have made so far with this legislature by growing our pro-environment majority in the House and capturing key seats in the Senate.”
