[Philadelphia, PA] – Today, Conservation Voters of PA endorsed Representative Gene DiGirolamo (R) for re-election to the State House in Bucks County’s 18th District. Conservation Voters of PA represents thousands of individuals in the Commonwealth who are committed to clean air, land, energy, and water, and prepared to vote for candidates who reflect those values.
“Rep. DiGirolamo's ongoing fight to protect the environment should inspire other lawmakers to stand up for the clean air and safe water that their constituents deserve,” said Josh McNeil, Executive Director of Conservation Voters of PA. “Even when it means standing against his party’s leadership, Rep. DiGirolamo does the right thing for the people of his district and that's the kind of leadership Pennsylvania needs.”
Rep. DiGirolamo is a lifelong resident of Bensalem who is serving his twelfth term in the State House. Prior to serving as a State Representative, he was the Bensalem Township Auditor and Chairman of the Bensalem Board of Auditors. In the State House, Rep. DiGirolamo has been a consistent supporter of environmental issues. In this past session, he served as the prime sponsor of a bill to establish a severance tax, and he voted against a bill that would have rolled back air and water protections on oil and gas drilling. On our 2017-18 Environmental Scorecard, Rep. DiGirolamo earned 100% and a lifetime score of 71% - the highest lifetime score of any Republican legislator who has served more than one term.
Rep. DiGirolamo said of the endorsement, “I’m grateful to Conservation Voters of PA for their endorsement and I am proud to be an advocate for environmental policies that protect our open space, clean air, and drinkable water. Conservation issues are not just Democratic or Republican issues – they concern all of us and need support from legislators on both sides of the aisle.”
