Ed Gainey - Pittsburgh Mayor

Ed Gainey

Mayor Ed Gainey is running for re-election in the City of Pittsburgh.

As a former State Representative for the 24th State House District in Allegheny County, he held a 98% lifetime score on the Pennsylvania Environmental Scorecard. He cosponsored several bills that sought to combat toxic lead in schools and harmful air quality in the city.

During his first term as Mayor, Pittsburgh has made significant progress in its climate goals. It has shifted 40% of the city's electricity to renewable sources, invested in electrifying the city's fleet, committed to the city's climate action plan of a 100% net-zero goal, and led the campaign for Pittsburgh to be selected for the Bloomberg Sustainable Cities program. The city is also on track to create a hazard mitigation plan to address climate resiliency concerns.

Mayor Gainey is facing a primary challenger. He has been a strong advocate for environmental justice and climate mitigation. Conservation Voters of PA is proud to endorse him for re-election on May 20th.
